acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

the first and main function of the Holy Spirit is to make us "witness" and share the gospel. As what Peter did when the Holy Spirit came in Acts 2. Peter preached to the crowd after he received the Holy Spirit.

I belive it is related to the conviction Jesus was talking about. The Holy Spirit urged us to share the gospel, and upon sharing, it is the power of the Holy Spirit that moves to the listeners and convicts their heart to repentance.
